Over the past week (July 31-August 7), the number of new cases of coronavirus infection in Georgia amounted to 12 729.
Eight case of coronavirus-related fatalities have been reported during this period. Number of recoveries was 11 199, reads an updated data of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) of Georgia.
According to the NCDC, a total of 67 482 tests were administered. Positivity rate stood at 16.8% for the last seven days.
Georgia's capital Tbilisi is still the epicenter of the spread of coronavirus. The number of infected is distributed by region as follows: Tbilisi – 5 726; Imereti – 1 955; Adjara – 1 273; Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 1 024; Guria - 664; Shida Kartli - 545; Kakheti - 530; Kvemo Kartli - 473; Mtskheta - Mtianeti - 193; Samtskhe-Javakheti - 172; Racha-Lechkhum-Kvemo Svaneti - 174.
Number of Covid-infected persons in the country as of August 7 totals 14 225.
From the outbreak of Covid-19 in Georgia till now a total of 1 679 621 persons have recovered, number of deaths reached 16 877.
