A session of the municipal government was held at the Tbilisi City Hall. Before discussing the issues on the agenda, the Mayor of the Capital, Kakha Kaladze, made several statements and noted that the presentation of the report on the projects implemented in the field of the transport policy will be held next week.
According to him, it is important for the population to be fully informed about the projects implemented or planned by the Tbilisi City Hall.
“Next week we are going to present to the population a report on the projects implemented in the direction of the transport policy and to remind them once again of what has been done, what reforms we have started, and what is planned for the future. I think it is important to remind those residing in Tbilisi of all this once again”, - Kakha Kaladze stated.
The Mayor of Tbilisi noted that in the Saburtalo District, in the vicinity of the Sports Palace, at the area of the so-called barracks, the square has been arranged. As a result of negotiations carried out with the local population, the recreational space has been arranged on the area of 1,300 m2, with proper greenery, trees and plants, and the necessary park equipment.
“You are well aware of how overloaded the area around the Sports Palace is. This is a clear example of how the specific spaces might and should not be developed in urban mode. In the mentioned area there were the so-called barracks where the residential building was supposed to be built. We have held negotiations with the locals and arranged a very good recreational area on the spot. It is not a big one – just arranged on the area of about 1,300 m2. If not for our decision made and negotiations held, the residential buildings would probably have been erected here and the surrounding area would have been further overloaded”, - Kakha Kaladze declared.
The Mayor of Tbilisi thanked the staff of the Saburtalo District administration and the District Governor Gaioz Vasadze for the work carried out.
At today's government session, the Mayor of the Capital also spoke about the infrastructure projects and noted that the Tbilisi Development Fund has started restoration and rehabilitation of the State Silk Museum, which is the cultural heritage monument.
According to him, the project is fully or partially co-financed by the International Association of Mayors and Heads of Francophone Capitals and Metropolises.
Tbilisi Development Fund has started rehabilitation of the State Silk Museum. This building is the cultural heritage monument. The project is co-funded by the International Association of Mayors and Heads of Francophone Capitals and Metropolises. Under the project, the building, exterior and interior will be completely renovated. Also, the furniture and the yard will be improved”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
According to the Mayor, the works will be completed in December 2022.
“The collections preserved in the museum are unique and give us an idea of the production and use of silk fabric in the Caucasus and around the world. Here are samples and exhibits with great information. I think the rehabilitation of the museum shows not only the importance of the building, but also the uniqueness of the exhibits preserved here. I am very glad that we are able to implement similar projects. The works will be completed in December 2022”, - the Mayor of the Capital stated.
Kakha Kaladze also focused on the zonal-hour parking system and noted that those citizens who for some reason could not pass the initial registration of zonal-hour parking, will be able to register again in the system starting from June 7.
According to the Mayor, in some cases, the owner of the apartment, who has to register the vehicle in the system for free use, is not in Georgia, or the dwelling space is registered after a deceased person.
“Zonal-hour parking has been introduced in the city for a long time so far. Too many people have become users of these services. However, several facts were observed and I have personally received the messages on Facebook that citizens are encountering problems while registering for the first time. In all such cases, starting from June 7, citizens will be able to register their vehicles and to become the users of this system”, - Kakha Kaladze declared.
Tbilisi Mayor instructed the Vice-Mayor Irakli Khmaladze to post detailed information at the parking website.
“In this regard, I would like to ask Irakli Khmaladze to post this information on the parking website. We should also provide this news to the citizens through the media”, - Kakha Kaladze stated.
It was also mentioned at today's government session that citizens will be able to apply to the Tbilisi City Hall before September 1 for unfinished constructions.
“As you know, we have created a system of preferential solutions for the unfinished constructions. There are special regulations regarding unfinished constructions. Many good decisions have been made; many problems have been solved. As you are well aware, the deadline for the applications is May 30 of this year. We decided to extend this deadline and to give citizens the opportunity to submit applications until September 1. The City Hall will stand by their side as much as possible, because such buildings are a problem for families and the city as well. From the visual point of view, no one enjoys seeing unfinished buildings”, - Kakha Kaladze stated.
