According to Amiran Gamkrelidze, director of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), the state-funded flu vaccination process will continue for at-risk groups from today.
As Gamkrelidze says, if there is no great activity on the free vaccine, it may become available to everyone again in a few days.
"From today, we have returned only to the vaccination regime of risk groups. We also sent a circular to all the medical facilities where they give vaccination shots against the flu. Information was taken on how many doses are in the network today and we gave two weeks to vaccinate the risk groups. If we see that there will not be much activity, it is possible to declare another day or two for free vaccinations. This is the strategy today, "Gamkrelidze said.
According to him, until December 1, there was a lot of activity with free vaccinations only in Tbilisi. From November 22 to December 1, all citizens of Georgia from the age of 6 months could get the flu vaccine for free.
