Armenia and the European Union are negotiating the possibility of Armenia’s joining the EU Digital COVID Certificate system, Serob Bejanyan, head of the Information and Public Diplomacy Department of the Armenian Foreign Ministry said when asked when the process of mutual recognition of vaccination certificates will be completed between Armenia and the EU.

“With the participation of representatives of the eligible sectors of Armenia and the European Union negotiations are currently underway on the possibility of Armenia joining the EU Digital COVID Certificate system, developed by the EU. The public will be informed about the results by the competent state structures,” he added, local media ARKA reports.

He also said that a final form of a coronavirus vaccination certificate is being developed in Armenia, which will be sent to partner countries for their comments.

Today, Armenia uses three types of vaccines against coronavirus- AstraZeneca (Britain), Sputnik-V (Russia), and CoronaVac / Sinovac (China).

Bejanyan said the Ministry of Health in June of this year developed and provided to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a form of a vaccination certificate, however, during contacts with representatives of partner countries, it turned out that the form needed some changes.

On July 9, the government of Armenia extended the coronavirus quarantine for another six months until December 20, 2021.

The nationwide quarantine was first imposed on September 11, 2020 replacing the state of emergency that was declared on March 16 to stop the spread of coronavirus.
