The Ministry of Finance of Georgia published a financial document. As of August 2023, the external debt of Georgia amounted to USD 8.15 or GEL 22.52 billion. The state foreign debt decreased by USD 28 million or GEL 193 million compared to July due to the strengthening of GEL against USD and EUR.
The Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) loan ranks first in Georgia's foreign debt, which the country took to develop the largest infrastructure projects, followed by The World Bank Group. The WB credits are mainly used for infrastructure projects as well. The European Investment Bank is in third place.
