The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline is one of the most important strategic facilities for Georgia. The Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation, together with an international consortium, is responsible for managing the 1768-km Georgian section of the pipeline. GOGC publishes monthly statistics on the transportation of oil by Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline.
According to the corporation, the volume of oil transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline amounted to 9.1 million t in 2021, which was 5% less compared to 2020. This volume was the record low for last 10 years.
The volume of oil carried by the Baku-Supsa pipeline amounted to 4.4 million tons during the same period, which amounted to 4% more than in 2020. The market value of crude oil in both pipelines totals to USD 18.9 billion.
The volume of transported oil was down by 11.5% in 2020, so the load of the pipeline totaled 27.6 million.
The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline was opened in 2006. Its load was highest in 2010 and stood at 38.4 million t.
