In January-June 2022, Georgia received an income of USD 43.5 million from the exports of unprocessed gold, which was 47.8% higher than the figure of the same period last year. According to the data, unprocessed, semi-processed, or powdered gold with a share of 1.7% was among the ten largest export goods of the country.
In total, 1.3 tons of gold were sold from Georgia to four countries during this period. Switzerland is the main key market for Georgian gold among export countries. The ranking of exporting countries is as follows:
1. Switzerland - USD 39.3 million, 1.2 tons;
2. Germany - USD 2.6 million, 0.07 tons;
3. Turkey - USD 1.1 million, 0.03 tons;
4. United Arab Emirates - USD 447.5 million, 0.01 tons;
The income from exports to all countries has increased compared to the first half of the previous year.
According to the official statistics of Geostat, in January-June, a total of USD 4.1 thousand worth of unprocessed gold was imported into Georgia. The importing countries were Germany and France.
As for processed gold products, according to Geostat, in the first half of the year gold products worth up to USD 38 thousand were imported into Georgia, which is 55% less compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the volume of imported gold decreased slightly and this year only 0.10 tons of gold was imported at the mentioned price.
Gold Imports By Countries:
1. France - USD 27.3 thousand, 0.06 tons;
2. Russia - USD 7.2 thousand, 0.01 tons;
3. Finland - USD 1.1 thousand, 0.03 tons;
4. Germany - USD 1.1 thousand.
Exports of ready-made gold products was not carried out during this period.
