The Tbilisi Court of Appeals granted the petition submitted by the National Competition Agency, in the framework of the investigation of the cinema tickets online sale market.
Until the end of the investigation, with the court order, the "exclusive" condition of the contract concluded on December 31, 2022, between "Distribution Company" and "Online Tickets" (legal successor "Tineti") was suspended by the Agency.
According to the mentioned condition, the "Distribution Company" exclusively transferred the tickets of 6 main cinemas operating in the country to "Tinet" for the purpose of online sale for a period of 2 years, and at the same time, undertook the obligation not to transfer the tickets of the mentioned cinemas to other companies, which would lead to the expulsion of other entities engaged in the same activity from the market.
Based on the complaint of "El-Tickets", the Georgian National Competition Agency is conducting an investigation regarding the possible violation of the Abuse of dominant position by the "Distribution Company" and on the possible fact of the restrictive agreements by “Distribution Company", "Tineti", "TBC Bank" and TBC Bank Group.
The National Competition Agency is considering the investigation of 6 cases, in 2023, the Agency completed two investigations and in both cases established the fact of restriction of competition by the administrative body. In the same period, a decision on inadmissibility was made on 6 complaints.
