As a result of investigative activities carried out by the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, through the coordinated activities with the representatives of the Customs Department of the LEPL Revenue Service, foreign citizen has been brought to the criminal liability, on the fact of smuggling of particularly large amount of goods across the customs border of Georgia.
Investigation determined that the accused person, through the customs checkpoint, hidden from the customs control, has brought to the customs border of Georgia undeclared cut diamond stones of various sizes and qualities and a gold ring, having customs value of GEL 46 029.
Investigations is underway under the second part of article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
