Kazakhstan plans to build four ferries in the Caspian.

Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Kairbek Uskenbayev summed up the results of the eleventh meeting of the Kazakh-Georgian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, in which he took part as part of a working visit to Tbilisi, Kazinform reports referring to Telegram– the channel of the head of the Ministry of Industry.

As the head of the department informed, during the meeting the parties considered the prospects for the development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route. Kairbek Uskenbaev noted that in this direction the volumes of Kazakhstani exports, including cargo transportation from China, will continue to grow, therefore, further cooperation should be developed in the area of ​​convenience of transit through the territory of Georgia.

“The Trans-Caspian route will become a catalyst for further expansion of Georgian export trade. We plan to build four ferries on the Caspian Sea, which will contribute to the establishment of a favorable competitive tariff on the route,” the minister said.

As previously reported, on March 31 Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Kazakhstan signed quadripartite statement on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor.

Kairbek Uskenbayev stressed that Kazakhstan and Georgia have significant potential for increasing mutual trade. Kazakh companies are ready to increase the export of processed goods in a number of industries, including metallurgical, petrochemical, food and engineering, as well as pharmaceuticals. The total export potential is estimated at USD 170 million.

In turn, at a meeting of the intergovernmental commission, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili noted that the country is interested in the supply of beef, dairy products, pasta, vegetable oil and wheat flour. Kazakhstan expressed its readiness to provide a list of exporting enterprises, as well as to increase exports of products to Georgia for 40 items in various sectors of the economy.

In addition, Kazakh grain exporters are ready to supply wheat to the Georgian market on a market basis. Kazakhstan offers Georgian importers to participate in forward purchases of wheat, sunflower and other crops for the purpose of their subsequent export.

Also during the meeting, the parties established the exchange of permit forms for freight transportation by road for 2022 and a preliminary quota for 2023.

In addition, the Kazakh side offered Georgian airlines to start operating regular flights to Kazakhstan. Today, domestic airlines Air Astana, Fly Arystan and SCAT operate 19 regular flights to Georgia.

The 11th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of Kazakhstan and Georgia was held on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
