The main factor of mortality increase was the COVID-19 pandemic. The virus has killed a total of 3773 citizens since February 2020 (as of March 30, 2021).
According to the 2020 data, the negative natural increase was stated in Georgia (the difference between the number of live births and the number of deaths) equaling -4,000.
