One of the priorities for us is the EU market - Minister

The Minister of Agriculture Otar Shamugia says, that one of the priority destinations for the country is the European Union market, where the exports of agricultural products increased by 21% in 1Q2023. He stated this in the Georgian Parliament, in the format of "Minister's Hour".

According to him, in 2023, a growing trend of export of agro-food products has been observed. In particular, according to the data of the first quarter, there was a 29% increase in exports compared to the same period of the previous year, and the exports of Georgian agro-food products to the European Union increased by 21%.

"One of our priorities is the European Union market and the full use of its potential. After the signing of the free trade agreement, the exports of wine to the EU countries increased by 129%, alcoholic beverages - by 26%, fruit and vegetable juices - by 103%, non-alcoholic carbonated drinks - by 4.7 times, and the exports of dry fruits by 5 times, tea and citrus are also exported.

It should be noted that after the signing of the free trade agreement, the European Union granted Georgia the right to export the following products of animal origin: honey and beekeeping products, sea products, animal feed, etc., the minister noted.
