The parliament has adopted the draft Forest Code and the package of legislative changes in the third reading, according to which, forest areas of 20 ha may be transferred to the Patriarchate.
According to the draft amendments to the Law on State Property, the forest areas adjacent to the Orthodox churches and monasteries may be transferred to the Georgian Apostolic Orthodox Church.
The transfer of forest may be carried out on the basis of the relevant application of the Apostolic Orthodox Church of Georgia and the mediation of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.
