“Today, within the UN General Assembly debates, the Prime Minister will emphasize the government’s peaceful policy and speak about economic and democratic reforms,” said David Bakradze, Georgia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

According to Davit Bakradze, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has held significant meetings in New York.

At the meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the PM stressed the Georgian government’s policy for ensuring peace, stability and economic development in the “crisis-challenged” region.

Davit Bakradze said the PM and Foreign Ministers also held “results-oriented” bilateral meetings within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA).

Bakradze stressed that the government’s successful fulfilment of the EC’s 12-point recommendations and positive expectations over Georgia’s future EU candidate status were highlighted at the meetings.

“Today is the main event. The Prime Minister will address world leaders within the framework of the UN General Assembly debate. He will emphasize the peaceful policy of our government in terms of territorial integrity restoration and will speak about the economic and democratic reforms implemented by the Georgian government in order to achieve tangible results for the population,” Bakradze said.
