"Georgian Manganese" agrees to resume work with the old work schedule in line with the employees' demands. The relevant news is posted on the company's official "Facebook" page.

"On June 18, the negotiation was held among the company's management, the state representative of Imereti, the head of the labor inspection service of the Ministry of Labor Health and Social Protection, the mayor of Chiatura municipality and the mediator. Taking into account the request of the employees, the company made the following decision:

- "Georgian Manganese" will return to old 12-hour work schedule;

- In the first stage, the salary will increase by 5%. The company is also ready to gradually increase the salaries of employees along with the increase in profitability", - the statement reads.

A miner on strike in Chiatura has sewed his eyes. He applied this form of protest due to non-fulfillment of the strikers’ demands. The miners' protest in Chiatura has been on for the thirteenth day.

Ten strikers have been on hunger strike for several days, one of them has sewed his mouth shut. The miners demand a salary increase and revision of the new schedule by the company.

Several meetings between the strikers and company representatives ended without results.

The Public Defender and the representative of the Ministry of Health are involved in the mediation process.
