Tour companies have another demand. The private sector is asking the government to allow rapid COVID-tests on the border along with the PCR tests.
As tour companies explain, the price of a travel tour is grown by an average of 200-250 EUR or USD due to PCR tests (the price depends on the country where the tourist is taking the test). The tourist has to do a PCR test at least three times during the tour.
As Irakli Kabulashvili, the founder of Omnes Tour says, the antigen test is a relatively low-budget tool, so checking tourists at the border with rapid COVID-test is already acknowledged practice in other countries.
"It is quite difficult to organize a tour with those tourists who are ready to add another 250-300 EUR to the travel cost. In this case, we have one alternative, to take into account the experience of our European partners, where a rapid antigen-based test is already allowed along with the PCR test, which facilitates logistics and drastically reduces costs," said Irakli Kabulashvili, founder of Omnes Tour.
According to the decision of the Government of Georgia, a citizen of any country, who submits a certificate on two doses of COVID vaccine, will be able to enter Georgia by air.
In addition, as of the decision of the Georgian Government, citizens from specific countries have the right to enter the country by air based on the PCR test conducted within 72 hours.
