The NGO Society and Banks (SAB) reviewed Georgia's transit potential. According to the organization, this year cargo volume will increase in the transit corridor of Georgia, which is related to the redirection of cargo from the North to the South.

"Georgia's income from transport services in 2022, will be about USD 150 million more compared to 2021, exceeding USD 960 million.

Significant growth is expected in maritime and road transport revenues due to the diversion of international cargo flows. This fact will have a significant positive impact on Georgia's foreign exchange inflows and economic growth.

In the new reality, strengthening the status of a transit country will provide additional security guarantees along with significant economic and political stability. Undeveloped and unfinished roads, railways and maritime infrastructure remain a challenge. Implementing the Anaklia Deepwater Port project would be a significant competitive advantage for Georgia. It is necessary to take effective steps in this direction and establish Georgia as a transit hub worldwide," the organization noted in a statement.
