Unconfirmed reports said on Monday evening that shots were heard close to the Hilton hotel in Vienna.
The reports come after at least seven people were killed in a terror attack close to the city's central synagogue.
Meanwhile, reports on social media also said there was an ongoing hostage situation at the Akakiko sushi restaurant in Mariahilfer Strasse.
