The general secretary of Georgian Dream, the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze declares, that there is a need for more information from the United States of America on the case of sanctioning the former Prosecutor General of Georgia, Otar Partskhaladze.
As Kaladze told journalists, when it is about a strategic partner and such decisions, the population of Georgia should know what the reasons are.
"First of all, it is probably necessary to make public more information, present more specifics. I think, first of all, the population of our country deserves that when they say that a Georgian citizen is sanctioned and talk about a specific charge, more information should be presented from their side. When we talk that [SSG] has started the investigation, probably the relevant agency will ask its colleagues to provide more information on this issue.
You remember that in the case of judges, when a decision was made regarding the restriction of visas, no one could understand anything in the explanation - why this decision was made, what it was related to. I think, at least, when talking about a strategic partner and making such decisions, the reasons should be known to the public and more specifics should be voiced," said Kaladze.
For information, the USA imposed sanctions on the former Prosecutor General of Georgia Otar Partskhaladze. According to the US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control, within the framework of the new sanctions package, sanctions were imposed on 24 more individuals, including Otar Partskhaladze. The US State Department refers to Otar Partskhaladze as a Georgian-Russian oligarch with whom Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) worked to influence Georgian society and politics in Russia's favor.
