Subsistence minimum for working-age male amounted to GEL 245.1 in November 2021, which was GEL 39.5 or 19% more compared to the same period of the last year, - show data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The increase in the subsistence minimum is related with high inflation, as inflation rate hit a record high for the last 10 years – 13.3%. Prices are mostly grown on foods, which amounts to 22% y-o-y.
As of November, subsistence minimum for average consumer was GEL 217, which is an increase of GEL 35 compared to the previous year.
