The Agrarian Issues Committee heard a report on the work of the LEPL National Wine Agency in relation to the current harvest season.

The speaker, Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the Agency, focused on the Agency's plans linked to the growth of viticulture and vintage promotion measures.

"The Agency is working on a vineyard cadastre as part of the viticulture development program, and this year's harvest was preceded by fieldwork in the viticulture zones of Kvareli, Gurjaani, Sighnaghi, and Akhmeta, as well as other districts of Kakheti. The fact that the harvest was carried out in Kakheti and Racha-Lechkhumi based on vineyard cadastre extraction is crucial”, - Levan Mekhuzla stated.

According to him, cadastral data verification is still ongoing.

Everything has been done, according to the Chairman of the National Wine Agency, to focus on the quality of the grapes, which will assure the creation of premium wine.

"245 companies participated in the grape processing around the country, processing 235 thousand tons of grapes, a new high in Georgia's independent history. The value of the grapes sold exceeded 285 million GEL. 25,000 individuals sold the grapes. What has been accomplished in the field of viticulture this year will be a precondition for sustained, long-term development”, - the Agency's Chair stated.
