The British Embassy in Tbilisi deeply regrets that the government of Georgia and the opposition failed to come to a negotiated agreement during EU mediated talks.
The Embassy believes this is a missed opportunity that would delay the advancement of Euro-Atlantic integration.
“The British Embassy deeply regrets that the Government of Georgia and the Opposition failed to come to a negotiated agreement during the talks mediated by the EU. This is a missed opportunity that will delay Georgia’s continued advancement as well as Euro-Atlantic integration. We urge continued progress on judicial and electoral reforms, and all parties to continue negotiations until all issues are resolved”, - the Embassy wrote on Facebook page.
The ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party and the opposition could not agree on a solution, Christian Danielsson briefed reporters following the hours-long joint meeting between GD and the opposition on Tuesday. Danielsson said he proposed a solution that puts the country’s interest first, but none of the political parties could agree to it.
