TV-Radio Advertising Revenues Were Down In 1Q2023 - Statistics

The Communications Commission reports, that in 1Q2023, the total advertising income of television and radio broadcasters decreased by 12.5% compared to the same period of the previous year amounting to GEL 15.6 million.

In 1Q2023, the amount received from commercial advertising of TV companies amounted to GEL 14.1 million, which was GEL 2.2 million less compared to the same period of the previous year. Direct advertising revenue of television broadcasters accounted for 66.7%, the share of sponsorship increased by 1.2%, while the share of product placement increased by 5.5%.

As for radio broadcasters, their advertising revenue in the first quarter of 2023 has increased by 2.6% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounts to GEL 1.5 million, of which direct advertising accounts for 87.82%, and sponsorship - 12.16%.

Advertising revenues include direct advertising, sponsorship, product placement, announcements and teleshopping.

The regulator relates the decline in the advertising market to the regulation of gambling advertising.
