Two More bodies found by rescuers in Shovi disaster zone

As a result of search operations in Oni municipality, rescuers have found two more bodies in the disaster zone, according to Temur Mghebrishvili, head of the Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

"The search and rescue operations are underway intensively. Today, 40 kilometers away from the epicenter of the disaster, the body of a man was detected near the village of Sori. Spot checks are being carried out in the epicenter of the disaster. We’re oriented on approximately ​​8 hectares of territory, where the body of one more adolescent was found today and also separately, a fragment of a person," Mghebrishvili said.

In total, 31 bodies were found.

Rescue teams continue to search for 2 other missing people.

The mudslide hit the Shovi area on August 3. Shovi, about 140 kilometers (85 miles) northwest of the capital Tbilisi, was popular for its mineral springs and rugged mountain vistas and contains cottages and small hotels.
