The state has conducted a feasibility study regarding Anaklia Port, but specific terms for new tender are still unknown. As Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili declares, details will be announced during the year.
According to him, a feasibility study has been conducted before the Russia-Ukraine War, but today the reality is changed.
"We have conducted a feasibility study regarding Anaklia Port. This is a very reliable Dutch company. The research was done before the Russia-Ukraine War. However, after the war, many parameters are changed, so clarification is being carried out, which will allow us to make changes in our existing legislation, as it will give more flexibility to the state and the potential investor to realize the project. We will inform you on the specific terms during the year," said Davitashvili.
In January 2020, the new port project contract with the Anaklia Development Consortium (ADC) was canceled by the government surrounding concerns around financing and project progress. The deadline for obtaining the funding had been postponed six times, - the Georgian government claimed.
At the time of termination of the contract, "Anaklia Development Consortium" had already invested USD 74 million in the project.
