Obtaining a driver's license in Georgia becomes difficult and more expensive from the next year, a new normative act will enter into force on April 25, 2022, which provides passing a two-stage practical exam in addition to the theoretical exam.
The total registration fee for the exam will be GEL 130, of which GEL 40 is the cost of theory and GEL 90 is the cost of passing the exam in real space.
In addition to registering for the exam, those wishing to obtain a driver's license will have to pay more for driving schools.
The driving school "Art Drive" states that if today students need to take an average of 6 practical lessons in a closed field, this will be added by an average of 10 compulsory lessons in the city from next year. As a result, the current fee for driving schools will increase from GEL 300 to about GEL 700-800, and in the case of some driving schools, it may even reach GEL 1000.
"At this stage, a person has to pay GEL 300 for practice-theory lessons. This cost will increase to GEL 700-800 and in the case of some driving schools, it may even reach GEL 1000," Giorgi Berishvili, the founder of Art Drive said.
According to the driving schools, the new regulation will result in the closure of about half of the 1,000 driving schools on the market.
